EBANX's Monthly Report has a new look!

This is a space where we bring together specially curated content for our merchants: what's new and what's next, as well as valuable information for our merchant’s business ' such as regulatory updates and important dates for sales.

The Monthly Report is now available online to optimize the delivery of these insights and organize all this content in one place for easier access.

This new format, which you can access here, will soon include previous editions and a logged-in area for accessing targeted communications.

The monthly report will still be emailed to your account manager every month, but from now on, you can access all the content online anytime.

2024 Year in Review!

As we enter a new year, we want to share some key highlights and milestones we accomplished, making 2024 such a remarkable year and setting the ground for the achievements and growth record in 2024.

Record-breaking transaction volume: we processed over 2.3 million payment transactions daily, a 65% increase compared to 2023.EBANX also saw its highest monthly Total Processed Volume (TPV) in November and December, driven by the peak holiday shopping season.
Expanding global reach: our solutions facilitated payments for 480 million people worldwide, reinforcing our commitment to expanding access and financial inclusion in emerging economies.
Product innovation: we launched a series of innovative features designed to enhance your payment experience and cater to diverse market needs:
- Instant Payouts in Brazil and Argentina provide faster access to funds.
- UPI integration in India enables seamless transactions through this popular platform.
- Cards and Bank Transfers in Nigeria, expanding payment options for businesses and consumers.
- Enhanced card features in Latin America and Africa, offering greater flexibility and security.

These strategic initiatives have allowed us to consolidate our leading position in the 29 markets where we operate and strengthen our presence in newly launched markets, such as India.

We are incredibly grateful for your continued partnership and look forward to building on this momentum in 2025.

Beyond the “Alternative": driving digital commerce with local payment

In a recent article published by Latam Tech China on WeChat, Sean Yu, VP of Merchant Success APAC at EBANX, discussed how emerging markets, such as Latin America, Africa, and India, are leading a powerful wave of innovation and inclusion through local payments and reshaping how people and businesses interact within these dynamic economies.

Examples of localized payment innovation include Brazil's Pix. This instant payment system has become a global benchmark. It is already used by more than 170 million people in the country and India's UPI, driving a major shift from cash to digital transactions in the world's most populous country. In Africa, where traditional banking infrastructure is often limited, mobile money has become a cornerstone of digital finance.

“The adage of ‘one size fits all’ doesn't apply in digital payments. Each country and region has its distinct tapestry of consumer habits, regulatory environments, and cultural nuances. To truly unlock the potential of these markets, global businesses need to embrace localized solutions that resonate with consumers on a deeper level", wrote Yu.

Updates on Tax Regulations for foreign merchants processing under the Official FX in Argentina

On December 23rd, 2024, the Argentine Government officially confirmed the abolition of the PAIS tax for merchants processing under Official FX, following the Argentine Government's 2025 budget announcement.

Additionally, the Government established that transactions subject to PAIS tax carried out by individuals will also be subject to an income tax withholding (Percepción PAIS Impuesto a las Ganancias) at a rate of 30%.

Therefore, in the context of digital services in Argentina, the current tax structure for individuals (B2C model, in the digital services environment, Official FX) includes the following at checkout:

8% PAIS tax (if AFIP lists the merchant) or 30% (if the merchant is not registered);
30% Income Tax on individuals for transactions subject to PAIS tax (Percepción PAIS Impuesto a las Ganancias);
21% VAT (if AFIP lists the merchant);
2% Turnover Tax (IIBB).

EBANX joins Peru Payments Association

As part of our efforts to strengthen our presence in Peru and our commitment to developing the country's booming digital economy, EBANX proudly joined the Peru Payments Association (PPA), represented by Alvaro Gomez de la Torre, EBANX's Country Director of Peru.

Led by Monnet, Niubiz, Tarjetas Peruanas, and Vodanovic, the PPA aims to foster collaboration between representatives of the financial services industry and regulators and strengthen the country's digital ecosystem.

Peru's digital market is growing rapidly, with a projected CAGR of 15% between 2023 and 2027. Data released by the PPA shows that the digital payments industry is expected to jump 51% in the same period.

“We are very excited to contribute to the Peru Payments Association and collaborate with payment players, banks, and regulators on developing accessible, secure, and inclusive payment solutions and connecting global companies to Peruvian consumers,” said Gomez de la Torre.

In addition to the founding companies, others, such as BIM, Floid, Flow Pagos, Kashio, Kushki, Mastercard, Open Pay, Prometeo, and Visa, have joined the association alongside EBANX.
